We’re looking for volunteers to join our team!

Every year the Roncesvalles Polish Festival needs a great number of volunteers to keep it running smoothly. We are looking for enthusiastic, reliable and dedicated volunteers for before and during our festival.

Volunteers ensure a safe and enjoyable Roncesvalles Polish Festival by directing visitors, supporting the festival team, and assisting with setup/ tear-down. This is fun, easy work that can be applied to your high school or community service hours.

Pre-Festival Positions Available:

Event Poster Distribution: We will be placing Festival posters in community store windows, on store bulletin boards, on community bulletin boards and on hydro poles in the Roncesvalles Village and nearby areas. Good walking footwear is essential.

September TBD

Bicycle Parking Rack Notices: Help place information signs on the bicycle posts along Roncesvalles Ave. to advise cyclists.

Roncesvalles Polish Festival Positions Available:

Saturday September 14 & Sunday September 15

Festival Greeter/Barricade Marshals: Welcome people to the Festival, and provide event and activity directions. Be hospitable as you would represent the Roncesvalles Polish Festival and the Roncesvalles Village BIA. Maintain side street closures, provide directions to participants, and ask people to dismount from their bicycles when entering the festival route.

Zone Team Captains/Break Relief: Responsible for communications between volunteers and volunteer coordinator, and covering breaks as required.

Athletes’ Village Assistant: Canadian athletes Penny Oleksiak & Alex Kopacz, among others, will be attending this area for meet & greets as well as interactive games. Volunteers will help manage lineups/crowds and provide assistance to athletes.

Stage Assistants: Volunteers will help maintain green rooms, making sure performers have water at our stages. On Saturday night at 9:30 volunteers will be needed to hand out a few thousand glow sticks during the festival’s headline performance.

Cultural Display Setup/Teardown: Every year St. Casimir’s Parish Hall hosts a variety of displays of Polish culture and history. Volunteers will help with setup at the beginning of the festival, and tear down at the end of the festival.

VIP Parking Lot Attendants: Control access to VIP parking lot.

Beer Garden Clean-up Team: Assist beer garden manager with cleaning up tables and other simple tasks. Must be 18+. Smart Serve certification preferred.

VIP Reception Attendants: Must be 19+. Volunteers will welcome all VIPs to the Festival’s VIP area in the main beer garden, from 11:30 to 1:00, and control access to this area to VIPs only. Smart Serve certification preferred.

Steps to Becoming a Volunteer

After you have completed the application, you will receive a confirmation of your application, and requested date(s).

You will be forwarded by email an Orientation Package late August. Included will be an outline of your job description for all the Volunteer positions.

Please arrive at the designated Volunteer HQ on time. You must sign in and out at the Volunteer HQ.

You will be given an Event T-shirt at the beginning of your first scheduled shift. Please wear this T-shirt during the entirety of your scheduled shift(s). It is important that we can locate our volunteers in a large crowd with these T-shirts.

Besides your Event T-shirt, make sure that you dress comfortably. Bring along your own caps, sunglasses and sunscreen if necessary. If rain is in the forecast, bring along your rain wear and umbrellas. Please do not bring valuables. The festival will not be held responsible for any lost belongings left at the Volunteer HQ.

You will be provided a food voucher at the Volunteer HQ when you arrive for every shift you work.

Volunteers may not smoke while on shift.

There are scheduled breaks. Please stay on duty until your relief volunteer arrives.
